Why this song exists
“The Best Investment Broward Ever Made” exists because eventually, a long record of public service becomes its own answer. I've known Marty Kiar for years. I've watched him knock doors, connect with people, raise his daughters, serve Broward in different roles and remain recognizably Marty through all of it. Political fundraising usually asks people to invest in what somebody promises they will do. I wanted to turn that idea around. With Marty, people don't have to rely only on promises. Broward has years of history to look at. People believed in him, supported him and gave him opportunities to serve—and then they got to watch what he did with that trust. That's what “investment” means in this song. It isn't about reducing public service to dollars or treating an elected official like a financial product. It's about the investment people make when they put their name, their time, their vote, their money and their confidence behind another human being. And it's about being able to look back years later and say: We were right. He showed up. He kept serving. He never forgot where he came from. For me, this song is both a fundraising piece and a thank-you to the people who recognized something in Marty early and helped give him the opportunity to prove them right. Some investments pay you back in money. The best ones can pay an entire community back in service.
