Why this song exists
“Broward Wins Tonight” exists because I wanted Marty Kiar to have his victory song. I've known Marty since his years serving on the Broward County Commission and as Mayor, and over those years I've come to appreciate much more than the public official. I've watched his family grow. I've watched a man with tremendous charisma continue to knock on doors, talk to people and remember that public service is ultimately about the people standing in front of you. I've also watched him make being a father part of the standard he set for himself. Even with campaigns, public appearances and all the demands of political life, making it home to his daughters mattered. He never let politics completely swallow the person underneath it. Public service also runs deeply through Marty's family, and his own record now spans many years of serving Broward in different roles. That's what I wanted behind this song. “Broward Wins Tonight” wasn't meant to be another campaign message explaining why somebody should vote for Marty. This was the song for after all of that. The doors had been knocked. The work had been done. The supporters and volunteers had shown up. The family had stood beside him. Now turn it up. I wanted Marty, his family, his team and the people who believed in him to have a song that simply said: Tonight, we celebrate. Tonight, Broward wins.
