Behind the story
Why this song exists
“I Love My Job” exists because I really do love my job with Jeevz. I call it my hobby job, but driving has been part of my life for decades. In Montana, I commuted more than a million miles over 16 years, crossing Flesher Pass back and forth to my state government job. My dad taught me to be a conscientious, safe driver, and because my former husband had serious back problems, I became especially conscious of giving people a smooth, comfortable ride. My rule has always been simple: Do no harm. Don't hurt the people. Don't hurt the car. Then this Montana woman moved to South Florida and discovered somebody would actually pay me to drive Bentleys and Rolls-Royces. I was in. I grew up around practical vehicles and drove plenty of Chevys. Luxury cars like Bentleys and Rolls-Royces simply weren't part of everyday Montana life. South Florida introduced me to an entirely different automotive world, and after driving just about every kind of luxury vehicle, I can say without hesitation that I appreciate the craftsmanship. And yes, I'm a Bentley girl. But the cars aren't actually the best part of the job. The people are. Driving someone else's vehicle requires trust. Over time, some clients trust me with far more than their car. They trust me with their safety, their homes, their schedules and the people they love. I've developed relationships with clients that have lasted for years, and I've learned from people I never would have met without this work. When someone trusts me to get them where they're going safely and comfortably, I take that responsibility seriously. I may jokingly call Jeevz my hobby job, but there's nothing casual about the responsibility I accept when someone hands me their keys. I originally thought this song could also help Jeevz show prospective drivers and customers something important about the people behind the wheel: some of us genuinely love doing this work. The luxury cars make it fun. The people make it matter. And that's why I can sing every word of this song and mean it: I love my job.
