Behind the story
Why this song exists
This song was inspired by the life and legacy of Aaron "A-Rob" Robinson and by the remarkable work of Pam Robinson, founder of the Plant a Seed Project. After Aaron's passing, Pam transformed unimaginable grief into hope by creating opportunities for thousands of children to experience snowboarding, community, and belonging. The song also carries deep personal meaning for Victory Voice Media founder Hiedi Handford. Two days after losing her beloved companion Punky, she found strength by reflecting on the "Smash Life" tattoo she has worn for more than a decade in Aaron's honor. Remembering Pam's resilience after Aaron's death inspired Hiedi to move forward through her own grief. "Smash Life" became more than a song. It became a reminder that while loss changes us, love can still be transformed into action. Plant a seed. Lift someone up. Smash Life.
